Live pilchards and pinfish on light spinning tackle, free-lined tight to structure. Artificials — jerkbaits, jigs and topwater at first light — are a blast when the bite is on.
Best time of year
April through September is prime, with strong beach and pass action in the summer spawn. Warm winter afternoons still produce in the backcountry.
